Thursday, March 5, 2009			Deadlline for Essay Contest. Students in grades 3 through 8 at Coretta Scott King Magnet School and Crete-Monee Middle School have until this date to turn in essays on "A Woman Who Has Made a Difference."
Thursday, March 5, 2009	6:30pm	University Park Public Library 1100 Blackhawk Drive University Park, IL 60466	The Secret Life of Bees. In honor of Women's History Month we will be showing the film, "The Secret Life of Bees." Sandwiches will be served at 6:30; the movie will begin at 7 pm. This is a touching story of the need for love, sisterhood, and redemption. It focuses on strength and female empowerment. Let Sharon McGuire know if you plan to attend.

We will have a "Black and White Reception" to celebrate the Woman of the Year! Cocktails (cash bar) at 5 pm; dinner, 6 pm; program, 7 pm. The cost is $30.00. Contact Sharon McGuire for tickets and/or to nominate a "Woman of the Year." Plan to attend -- dressed in your best black and white attire!
Thursday, April 30, 2009	6:00 pm	Park Forest Public Library 400 Lakewood Boulevard Park Forest, IL 60466	Film Screening: "Who Killed the Electric Car?". This documentary deals with the construction and eventual destruction of battery run electric cars in the 1990's. Come see what part the government and oil companies played in this "murder mystery." Sandwiches will be served at 6 pm and the movie will start at 6:30.
